Carrauntoohil is Ireland’s highest mountain at a height of 1039m. It is a magnificent challenge to climb.
It forms part of The MacGillycuddy Reeks which is a 19km rugged mountain range. It attracts thousands of Climbers and walkers every year. Our house is an ideal walking base as we are only a few minutes drive to start your climb.
At the top of Carrauntoohill is a giant cross. There is also a walled, square shelter with no roof, where you can sit in to escape the the wind and eat your lunch. On a clear day, you can see the Atlantic in the distance and the view across the surrounding Macgillycuddy’s Reeks makes the climb more than worthwhile.
We advise having a guide as the changeable weather can make it dangerous at times.
